With over 40 years of experience in restaurant ownership, James Li attributes his culinary passion to his early start in the food industry. As a young boy, James watched his father work to establish a number of cafés and coffee shops throughout the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where he grew up. James quickly learned that it took more than just great ideas and quality food to make a restaurant thrive— that through caring and connecting with each customer, a regular café could be transformed into a warm and nurturing community. James’ learned how to reach out to people with the sort of kindness and generosity that lifted the spirits of everyone who walked through the doors of his father’s café.
By the age of 10, James was already falling in love with the food industry—serving customers with his parents, absorbing culinary techniques from various cooks and chefs, and developing the passion for providing that he carries with him to this day. With an extensive background in Asian, European, and Brazilian cuisine, his passion for multi-cultural cooking helps to add a unique variety to his menu.
James opened the first deli in 1981, in Beverly Hills, California. Since then, he has owned restaurants in downtown Los Angeles, Westwood and, Century City. Since 1999, James has had the pleasure of providing premium food to a loyal clientele in and around the Century City community.
